Model Feature - Aspiring Oklahoma Model - Zhiane Dempsey

Over the years, I have worked with some incredibly talented, young, aspiring models and high school seniors.  We've gotten some great images.  But what I didn't expect was that so many of the people I have worked with also have great stories.  With that in mind, I'm going to begin exploring a new, recurring segment featuring a local model, high school senior or family I have worked with.  Kicking this project off will be Zhiane Dempsey!

Zhiane Dempsey is currently a student at the University of Oklahoma. She is studying Health and Excercise Sciences with an emphasis on Pre-Med and Pre-Occupational Therapy.  

If you're a fan of OU, you may recognize Zhiane.  Her interest in modeling started early and has had close ties to the Sooners.  Over the years she has appeared in a variety of commercials and promotional videos produced by the University.  In recent efforts to expand her modeling portfolio, she has been working with some of the top Fashion and Model photographers in Oklahoma -- including Fry Photography  WOO HOO!!  Hopefully her hard work locally will help her to land her dream job of modeling and acting in Los Angeles.

I have had the pleasure of working with Zhiane three different times.   Each of the three shoots have been unique and challenging. But, beyond that, they have given us some great stories.  Our first shoot together was a sailboat shoot on Lake Hefner.  The wind on this particular day was blowing pretty hard but that didn't prevent us from getting images.  As we were wrapping up the shoot, the boat captain informed us that some mechanical problems had come up and that it may take a while to get back to the dock.  Zhiane and I felt a little helpless as he worked on the boat while we were drifting towards the dam.  Pretty soon it became apparent that we were going to crash and crash we did. We eventually had to climb off the boat onto the dam where we caught a ride around the lake back to our cars.  I certainly didn't expect to be abandoning a sinking ship that evening.

Our second shoot was during one of the hardest rainstorms we have had this year.  It actually worked out perfectly.  It poured right up to the time for our shoot then the rain let up.  That left us with great skies and plenty of water to splash around in.  Just as we finished the shoot, the skies opened back up and it poured for the rest of the day.

Our third and most recent shoot was in conjunction with Little Black Tux.  Little Black Tux is an online store specializing in tuxedo's designed specifically to fit the female body. With their wardrobe, Zhiane and I shot a series of images that depict todays strong, bold and still beautiful woman.  Look for some of these images to appear on Little Black Tux's website and social media soon.

In addition to making it big, Zhiane is using her modeling as a platform to raise awareness of Endometriosis. Endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus grows outside the uterus. Endometriosis can cause severe pain and possibly fertility problems.  Zhiane has been diagnosed with one of the more severe cases of Endometriosis in Oklahoma.  

Zhiane is an awesome model and a lot of fun to work with.  Keep an eye out for her in the next OU promo or on the pages of a magazine.
